Undergraduate Studies

How to apply to study at UMK?

UMK take students intake once per year which is during September Semester. The Application for September Semester shall be made through Students Admissions Management Division, Department of Management of The Ministry of Higher Education. Please visit the Ministry's website at http://www.mohe.gov.my. Advertisement on application for entry to IPTA is issued by the ministry

 

Who are eligible to apply for programs at UMK?

STPM , STAM , Matriculations students and Diploma graduate from accredited IPTA/IPTS

Postgraduate Studies

How many session for postgraduate study?
February and September session

How many postgraduate student intakes per year?
Programme by Research: throughout the year.

I received an offer to pursue my study in UMK. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, I could not register on the registration date. What should I do?
You can defer your study by filling up the deferment form Application For Deferment/ Extension/ Withdrawal/ Status Conversion before the registration date as stated in the offer letter. 

How long can I defer my registration?
The deferment is valid for only one semester and you are required to register the following semester.

If I am not able to register in the following semester, what should I do?
The offer letter is no longer valid. You are required to reapply.

How to check if students have overdue tuition fees?

The current tuition fees rate and overdue fee can be checked by the following

  • From the students portal
  • At the Bursary Counter at each University Malaysia Kelantan campus

How to pay the tuition fees?

Tuition fees can be paid in 4 ways;

  • Internet Banking 'Bill Presentment'
  • ATM Transfers - Yuran IPT 'Bill Presentment'
  • Islamic Bank Counter – payment slip
  • Bursary Counter at each campus

What actions taken if students have overdue tuition fees?

If the student has overdue tuition fees, they are barred from taking examinations, cannot register any course and barred from taking examinations results

What is the tuition fee status if student delayed or quit their studies during the current semester?

The status of the fees for student who delayed or quit is stated in the University Malaysia Kelantan Academic Regulations under 8.6 whereas;

  1. If the approval given before the semester break, student need to pay half of the tuition fees
  2. If the approval given after the end of semester break, student need to pay the whole tuition fees
  3. Other fees need to be paid in whole following paragraphs (i) and (ii) as above and hostel fee is according to the actual occupancy of the hostel. For those who quit under para 10.2 stated registered students( including those who had pre-registered their course) quit from the respective program after the semester begins are needed to pay all fees for that semester.

If students have sponsorships and on the current semester they are being offered other sponsorship, can they accept that scholarship without refusing the existing sponsorships?

Students may apply for more than one sponsorship but the university reserves the right to determine acceptance of the sponsorship and subject to the terms of the sponsor

How long does it take to process the repayment of students’ tuition fees or payment of scholarship/ loan from a sponsor?

The repayment process to the students will take around two weeks after the cheque received are clear by bank and according to the respective process

International Affairs

Can I send application for renewal of student pass or dependant pass 1 month before the expiry date?

No. Kindly submit all the required documents 3 MONTH before expiry date.

 

I want to bring my family. Who can I apply for Dependant Pass?

You can apply for Dependant Pass only per as following:

  1. Wife/husband with children or
  2. Mother/father or
  3. Brother/sister or
  4. Husband & mother

 

How many intakes to enrol international student per year?

February & September intake

 

What is the entry requirement for the undergraduate programmes in UMK?

 A: Qualification

  • Minimum of 3 principal with an A-Level examination or:
  • International Baccalaureate(IB)(with one sitting)

 English Proficiencies

  • TOEFL score 500 or:
  • IELTS band 5.5 or:
  • UMK (I-PREP) (International Preparatory Programme)

Can I use the Visit/Social Pass without applying for a student pass?

 All international students (except Diplomatic pass holders, Malaysian Permanent Residents (P.R)) are required to have a student pass while studying at UMK
