UMK OPERATES FIRE RESCUE SIMULATION WITH BOMBA MALAYSIA

BACHOK October 24 I Firefighters from Bachok District Fire and Rescue Station rescued eight trapped victims at the Universiti Malaysia Kelantan Chancellery Building (UMK) in a fire that occurred at around 9.44am on October 24, 2019.
Firefighting and rescue operations of all five victims were managed within a short period of time and were successfully evacuated at 9.49am, in a fire training operation involving 100 staff, cleaning workers and visitors.

According to the Director of the Environmental Occupational Safety and Health Management Unit (UPPKKP / EOSHMU), Prof. Madya Ir. Dr Ahmad Rasdan Ismail, simulated fire training @ Fire Drill was conducted to provide initial exposure and preparation to the Chancellor building staff for safety measures in the event of a fire.
He said training started at 9.44am with signs of fire and explosions beginning to appear on the left wing of the third floor. An alarm was first activated by the Bachok District Fire and Rescue Station at 0945am as soon as the emergency alarm sounded.

“The first occupants came out of the building at 0945am and arrived at the assembly point at 0945am. Meanwhile, the last occupants arrived at the assembly point at 0950 am,” he said.

He said the Bachok District fire station with 64 members and two engines and an EMRS rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call.
"Today's operation successfully educates and provides staff with insight into the rapid evacuation of building," he said.

The training is also to minimize the impact of accidents on staff and property.
