BACHOK December 15 I The Faculty of Creative Technology and Heritage (FTKW) became the first faculty at the University of Kelantan Malaysia (UMK) to establish the FTKW Alumni Association with its main objective as a platform to strengthen the relationship between alumni and alma mater as well as a platform for alumni to contribute back to the University.

The establishment of the FTKW alumni association is like Sireh Pulang ke Gagang (at the right place), because with the initiative the graduates of the FTKW are giving back and contributing to the university.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Prof. Ts. Dr. Zaliman Sauli said the establishment of the association was an important step in the development of strong alumni to help the faculty and the university in general.
He said the importance of working together with alumni was an important factor in helping to develop the FTKW and UMK.

“The Student Affairs and Alumni Affairs Office (HEPA) itself organises a series of outreach programmes known as Meet N Great through its UMK Alumni platform including FTKW alumni nationwide in an effort to increase UMK graduate employability and university development.

"The objective is to establish a network of UMK alumni, especially for UMK graduates who have been successful entrepreneurs," he said at the 2019 Sirih Pulang Ke Gagang Programme at the Laman Monsoon, UMK Bachok, Tangok, Kelantan, on December 15, 2019.

Also present, Dean of FTKW, Assoc. Prof. Ahamad Tarmizi Azizan and Former Dean of FTKW, Assoc. Prof . Abdul Aziz Shuaib.

Meanwhile, the Dean of FTKW, Assoc. Prof. Ahamad Tarmizi said the 2019 Sirih Pulang ke Gagang (SPKG) dinner was the faculty’s effort to bring back UMK alumni from 2011 to 2019.

He said the main objective of organising the SPKG programme as the main platform for FTKW alumni to share the latest FTKW graduates information and updates with students on campus.

"The SPKG programme is also aimed at raising funds for the establishment of the FTKW Alumni Association to assist asnaf students as well as those in need of assistance at the faculty level to continue their studies," he said.

At the event, there were also donations by FTKW Alumni and donors including former FTKW leaders and lecturers to mobilise the FTKW Alumni Association. Also present was a presentation ceremony for five Asnaf FTKW students by Prof. Ts. Dr. Zaliman.

Also took place were a speech-sharing session by two FTK alumni from the Department of Design and Creative Technology (JRTK), En. Zulkifli Mohd Zan and alumni of the Department of Heritage Studies (JPW), Pn. Sarinah Said.

En. Zukifli is one of the successful entrepreneurs and has been crowned as Kelantan Youth Entrepreneur. Whereas Pn. Sarinah is a lecturer at the Kuala Terengganu Community College who has successfully established a business based on an interactive centre as a heritage tourism centre.

In her speech, both shared experiences that the programmes offered by the FTKW and UMK have made them competitive and creative in pursuing their career as entrepreneurs in the field of study.

In fact, both alumni are able to generate substantial income as a result of disseminating creative ideas and innovating knowledge gained during their studies in the field of entrepreneurship and the creative industry.
